My Boys

I can't believe that January is already over halfway over! It didn't really feel like winter until this week, which has been great. Other than a dusting of snow, we haven't had much. We're supposed to get some tonight, but it keeps getting downgraded, so we'll see. It's pretty, but I'd rather not have to deal with it!

Daniel is still loving preschool and church, which makes me so happy! In fact, we are really excited for him and proud of him! Because the 4 year old preschool class is so small, he's been offered the opportunity to go to both his 3 year old class and also the 4 year old class on any day(s) of our choosing! Starting tomorrow he'll get to go to preschool M-Th. This was offered because he has shown maturity and also is ready for a higher level. I'm happy that he will get to stay with his regular class 2 days a week as well, so he won't feel really confused. Thankfully he will have the same teachers each day still, and he's very excited!

I really have to start working on getting out of bed in the morning. It's just so hard! James is still in my room, which means either he wakes up and wants out or I'm laying there trying not to move so I won't wake him up! Plus he wakes up so many times STILL that it's just hard to want to come out from under the covers! But we'll do it!

Really though, Daniel is growing a maturing. Jacob and I were talking about that the other night. Sure, he has his rough patches each day, but the major tantrums are lessening. This past summer we were dealing with a major meltdown every single day. Although, when he throws one it's usually pretty epic. There's no in between once he's upset. Generally though, it has to do with how tired he is. He seems to require a certain amount of sleep and the exact same schedule. If it's thrown off then we pretty much know we'll be battling it out, or dragging him (literally had to drag him one night) out of WalMart screaming. Ahhh. The joys of parenting.

Any other time though? He's sweet, He's hilarious. He really loves life and he loves his brother! Of course, he loves us too, and I love it when he says that he does out of the blue. He's a little sponge. Always has been. He understands basic math concepts. He can recite the Pledge of Allegiance, He can look at a digital clock and if I say he can have a snack at 3, and it's 2:52 he'll say, "Okay! So I can have a snack in 8 minutes!" He's almost always right! It blows my mind. I'm planning on teaching him the 50 states soon.

James is finally walking! Well...kind of. He CAN walk, but he doesn't go very far. At the moment he'd still rather crawl because he can zoom around so quickly. He's just so full of life and full of spunk. He's our happy little guy. He's had a few bouts of sickness already this winter. Although, we think they've mostly been teething related. The poor kid was in pain yesterday. It's the saddest thing to watch your baby cry in pain, and yet the sweetest thing when they just want to snuggle with you all day. Now...if he could just get those teeth through! There are so many lumps, but he still only has the same 6 teeth that he's had since the summer.

He loves to laugh and will laugh any time we do just to be a part of things. He likes to give "fives". He HAS to ring the doorbell each time we come and go, and will yell, "Ding dong!" until he gets to. He thinks his big brother is the funniest person ever. They play, wrestle and fight. He knows how to get our attention by fake crying. Although, Daniel also gets carried away and we have to remind him that when James cries it's his way of telling him to stop!

I love those boys so much! Even on days when I don't want to deal with life. Even the days where all Daniel does is get in trouble and James whines. At the end of the day I look at those 2 and I thank God over and over for them. :)
