Trick-or-Treatin'

Happy November/National Blog Month!

I wasn't able to blog every day last November, for obvious reasons. How is it that my little baby is turning ONE this month!? It's amazing how quickly the time has passed.

Yesterday Daniel got to celebrate his last "first" holiday. I've been excited for Halloween ever since my friend gave me a hand me down giraffe costume months ago!

He wasn't entirely sure about the process of getting the costume on, but once he had it on for a few minutes he was okay. He didn't even mind having the hood on. Yay! The poor boy came down with a cold yesterday, so he had a constant runny nose as you can tell from pictures throughout the day. No matter how many times I wiped it, the snot just kept a flowin'.

I love his little tail!

I decided to take Daniel to the middle school to visit Daddy and some of the teachers and students. He of course was a big hit!

Then we headed home for the afternoon to rest up. Since Daniel slept on the way and a bit on the way home we had lunch and played for quite awhile. He still ended up taking a two hour nap and I had to wake him up!

We went to the Trunk or Treat at Calvary Baptist. It started at 6 and we got there around 5:50 and there was a line of people winding clear around the side of the building! It made me think back to doing T.o.T. at Valley View and having cars backed up for miles down Mt. Vernon Rd!

Here we are getting ready to go!

And waiting in line!

They didn't have as many cars as we did at VV. There were around 20, but that was perfect for Daniel. Each car had a different theme, which was really cool. There were some really unique and fun ideas! Plus they had a really good set up to keep the flow going.

This cowboy exclaimed, "Your nose is running, Mr. Giraffe!" Haha!

The Crayon car.

The Candy Land car.

Of course, Daniel didn't have a clue what was going on, but he enjoyed reaching in his bucket and pulling the candy back out!

They also had 3 giant inflatable toys and a tent set up with free popcorn, nachos, hot dogs and hot chocolate. We were rather cold and didn't have the stroller with us, so we didn't eat there, but I love free community things!

We ended up stopping at Wendy's for supper because chili sounded really yummy to me. One of the workers gave Daniel a Dum-Dum (which I finally let him have a few licks of!). I also managed to pick up our tray and then spill Jacob's entire large drink all over the floor. I declared that was my trick of the night...

We came home and I let Daniel check out his loot and try his first M&M's.

Then Mr. Giraffe retired his costume for a bath and snugly jammies and it was off to bed! A very successful and fun 1st Halloween!
