That's a Wrap

Alright, well clearly I'm not going to ever feel like writing an update about each day in California, so I'll just wrap it all up tonight. Just going to recap and post some favorite pictures from the last 3 days.

Sunday

*Kendra had to be up at the crack of dawn to catch her flight home. I slept in while mom and dad took her to the airport.
*Had brunch at Denny's.
*Erica and I went out for our afternoon 'o fun.
*I had my first subway experience.

Waiting for the subway!

*Went to Chinatown in LA. Most ghetto-ly awesome street market I have ever seen.
*Walked Hollywood Blvd. and saw some really strange people.
*Road the subway back to Burbank in the nastiest smelling car ever.

*Had a craving for California Pizza Kitchen, so mom, dad and I went for supper. (and for some reason it won't rotate.)

Monday

*Dad wanted to take me to Pasadena to see this:

I was SO excited. Who knew I'd ever be thrilled just to see where the Rose Bowl is played!?

*Walked in the park across the street. Loved the mountain view and that the trees were budding!

*Walked through a cemetery looking for dead celebrities. Apparently it was mom's dream to do that...or something like that. LOL!

*Drove to Santa Monica Pier to spend the afternoon with Jim, Erica and Logan.

*Ate at Bubba Gump's. I wasn't a fan. But I had an ocean view from our table!

*I had to ride the Santa Monica Pier Ferris wheel.

*Had a great ocean view up there!

*Watched Logan ride some stuff.

*And just had fun!

*Left at sunset.

Tuesday

*Went "hiking" at Runyun Canyon. Mom and I did more panting than hiking. I love the views from up there.

*Went to the Jay Leno taping...

That experience is worth writing about! We were supposed to show up a couple of hours early and even then you aren't gaurunteed getting in. We all had to stand out in this holding zone. Then we were escorted to another holding zone where we had to get searched and go through metal detectors. Plus we were instructed to use the bathroom because you can't leave during the show. We had to sit out there for close to an hour before getting into the studio. We were the 2nd to last row from the top, but were in the middle so it was still a great view!

Jay comes out and does an opening warm up thing before the show which is pretty cool. Then the show started. I was excited because Owen Wilson was on that day. He was fun to see. The other stuff wasn't really that thrilling to me though.

When we left we were driving down the street and dad says, "Pull up next to that car, I think it's Owen Wilson." Mom didn't believe him, but drove up anyway since we were at going to be stuck at the stop light anyway. As it turns out it wasn't Owen Wilson...it was Jay Leno! He saw us looking so he rolled down his window and started talking to mom and dad. This was the best shot I got. I realized later, he probably would have posed for me, but I wasn't thinking clearly. Turns out he's a pretty nice dude.

*Headed to a Mexica restaurant called Don Cuco's for supper with the Beck's.

*Then had to say goodbye.

Our last sister pic until August when they come to Iowa!!

Wednesday

No pictures. Just headed to the airport and flew home. I had to say goodbye to my parents in Dallas. I don't know why, but I got all teary eyed saying goodbye! I was happy to land in the midwest though. I like visiting California, but I'm forever a midwestern girl I think. I got home, unpacked and then waited to see my hubby! I sure was glad to see him!

  1. What an adventure! I sure miss seeing the ocean! I want to go to CA so bad to see my brothers in Northern CA but how I would love to go see the ocean! It has been 20 years since I have been back - but I am a midwestern girl myself now so I am happy being in Iowa - especially since I have my Christian family!!!
Well I sure enJOYED reading this today! Thank you for posting it! Love always,
