We're Off To See The Wizard!

Yesterday was the Illinois vs. Minnesota game.  Not exactly the outcome we were thinking it would be, as Minnesota pulled out a win. Even sadder (at least for me) was that Iowa lost yesterday too. It just wasn't our day. There I was freezing my butt off, and got nothing but disappointment.

Stupid gopher!

Although it was also "Dad's Day" at the stadium. My favorite parts are always when the dad's do routines with their daughter's. There was one guy in particular yesterday that was cracking us up. He was so into it, and always trying to get the routine right. Here's a clip for your viewing entertainment.

After the walk of shame back to the car we stopped for food and WalMart before heading to the middle school for "The Wizard of Oz". The performance was AMAZING. It's my favorite musical to begin with and the kids did a great job. It was put on by the middle schoolers, but they also used 3rd through 5th graders as the Munchkins and Flying Monkeys!

Today they had their 2nd performance and it was just as great as last nights. I teared up both nights. I don't even know why. Last night it was during the Munchkin Land scene and tonight it was while they were all taking their bows. Actually during last nights tear up I was randomly thinking about how when we have kids, they might be the ones up there on the stage. During the bows, I was just so proud of them. They can really put on a great show. This was my 3rd year of seeing their musical and it was my favorite one.

I have some pictures to share from that as well. Sorry the performance pictures aren't great quality, but I wanted to have some to share. Since there's no flash photography and I don't have a great camera, you get what you get. Lots of blur!

"I just found out that we can  use hairspray!!!"

Crazy face...blocked by me

My crazy face.

The Wizard of Oz!

As a side note, Jacob put together an amazing tornado scene montage and made an awesome Wizard of Oz face distortion for when he was talking.  I was so proud of him.

Dorothy talking to Professor Marvel

Dorothy and Glinda

The Lullaby League

Hopefully this video worked. I LOVED the Lollipop Guild. One of my favorite things!

Meeting the Scarecrow

And now the Tin Man (this costume was so cool)

The King of the Forest!

The Wicked Witch and a Flying Monkey.

This was almost right before she melted, and then my camera died. Didn't get a picture of the hot air balloon. They had a GIANT helium filled balloon and had it attached to a garbage can (as the basket). There was a mishap last night and the balloon floated up to the ceiling. They were able to get another one for today...and had a backup one just in case!

It was a lot of fun, and like I said, I was so proud of the kids...and I don't even know half of them!

Cleanup lasted for about an hour and 45 minutes and then we had supper! Lots and lots of food. I WAY overdid it on the food today, but will get back on track tomorrow. We ate out for lunch today too. There was a potluck at church, but already had this in mind. I've always wanted to eat at Tres Compadres in Pana. We had planned to go there for lunch last year before the musical but Lola died and it turned out to be a horrible day. Oh man...I wish we had that instead of Veracruz. I haven't had a chimichanga that good since Erica and I used to eat at Las Glorias all the time. Then of course had snacks and then chowed down on crap for supper too.

This weekend FLEW by. I'm so glad I had the day off on Thursday, because I felt like I didn' t have a weekend! It was all on the go. Not ready for work yet tomorrow, but only 8 working days left until Thanksgiving!

  2. I love school plays! I totally know what you mean about being proud of all the kids. When Andy was in plays in high school (he was the last and the closest memory ha!) we would go to all or almost all of the performances!

The pictures are great! what a fun time

    love you, girl

  4. I was just thinking of Andy Gray also as the Scarecrow - I loved it!!! I liked that video up there, they did a great job. I bet it was fun to see that. I hope someday soon "your child" will be up there singing! I'm praying!

As for eating - boy girl you should have had some of that cheesecake we had at Kathy P. - talk about going overboard on eating - but so worth it. :)
