It's My Party, and I'll Cry if I Want To!

Whew. It's been a long and busy day.

We set the clocks back last night, and James ended up waking up twice and needing rocked, which takes awhile sometimes. I usually let him cry for awhile, but then he wakes Daniel up, so sometimes it's better to just go in.

This morning the boys and I went to church, and then this afternoon Mimi and Pa Elam came and we celebrated James' 2nd birthday.

As it turns out, James doesn't appear to be a partying kinda guy. He got up from his nap and was crabby, which is normal. I thought after I gave him some fruit snacks that he would perk up and be ready to open presents. He perked up, but he started crying when he saw all of the presents. He wanted nothing to do with them. I tried showing him how to unwrap it, but the more I tried to help, the more ticked off he became. So, after 2 failed gifts, Pa decided he and Mimi would take the boys on a walk. As soon as he asked James if he wanted to go outside, the boy shot off like a rocket to get his shoes!

While they walked, Jacob edited some pictures and I sat in silence messaging my mom. It was glorious.

They came back from their walk and played on the porch for a bit. We decided since he seemed happier we'd try presents with the old Grumpasaurus again. He wasn't pleased, but once he discovered the little car garage inside, he was happy as could be!

Of course, then he didn't want to open anything else. It was an unending battle though!

He was not amused that he got pajamas.

So, Pa said he'd wear them.

The other hit toy of the day was his Mickey train!

We gave up on presents again at this point because it was time for Jacob and Kent to go pick up the pizza! James was ticked the whole time they were gone because he needed, "Piiizzzaaa!"

Supper was yummy and James devoured almost 2 slices of pizza! He even ate most of the ham off of it! Then it was time for dessert. It's safe to say, James was finally happy!

The kiddo is still a bit blue after his bath, but he had fun eating all of the frosting...and then chucking the cake onto the floor. Sigh.

After bath he streaked into the living room yelling, "Naked!" over and over again. Played with his train again, and got his present from Aunt Rachel and Uncle Micah!

There was still a small puzzle left from us that was wrapped. I just grabbed it, unwrapped it and handed it to him and he was much happier. He may be getting unwrapped gifts for Christmas!
