It's so hard to keep quiet for so long! Although most family and several others found out along the way. With Daniel I waited for a full week of being late to test. With this one I just knew and so I found out before I was even 4 weeks along.
Trying for this one was a lot different because with Daniel it took almost 8 months. This one only took 2! I knew that should we get pregnant that time, that the baby's due date would be very close to Daniel's. Low and behold that's exactly what happened! My official due date is November 21st. My due date for Daniel was the exact same!
It's like I'm living a deja vu pregnancy!
Like I said, I just had this sneaking suspicion that I was pregnant. My first "symptom" with Daniel was having an super dry mouth all the time. The same thing happened this time.
Right now, I am 9 weeks along. I have not had any morning sickness. Woohoo! Lucky in both pregnancies (knock on wood). I have felt a lot more queasy though. My biggest problem so far is the bloating. Holy bloating, Batman. I constantly have a bloat bump. Sometimes I feel like I have an air bubble lodged clear under my rib care all the way down. Gas-X and I are BFF's. I'm sure you all wanted to know that. My jeans don't fit. I'm living in yoga pants and ready for warm weather to bust out the maternity capris. I don't care how early I am...elastic is comfy, so there! :)
Normally I am either starving and stuffing my face full of crap, or curled up because I'm not hungry and don't feel good. It's pretty hit or miss.
My energy is gone. It's hard to feel motivated to do much of anything right now. I was very tired with Daniel too. Right now I'm struggling to keep my eyes open to type this and I even got an hour nap this afternoon. Sometimes I find myself dragging and forcing myself to keep going because I have too. The second pregnancy is so different. Before when I was tired I would just lay down and watch TV all night. Now I have an active 2 year old to chase around. A little boy who needs fed, pottied, bathed etc. Exhausting, but I do that love that little guy!
Oh...and here's a new one. I've been having heart palpitations for a week now. Apparently this can actually be a pregnancy symptom. Hopefully that's all it is!
Today was FINALLY my first appointment. It felt like it took forever for the day to arrive. It worked perfectly though, because Jacob had the day off and Brenda was able to come over and watched Daniel for us. I woke up at 4:30 and never really slept again. I was feeling anxious and excited. There's always that fear that they won't find a heartbeat.
On the way I chugged 24 ounces of water and was ready to explode by the time we arrived. They of course were running behind, so I was dying! Once I was finally called back, I found out that you don't even have to have a full bladder anymore. Ahhh! Wish I would've known that before!
Jacob held my hand as the ultrasound tech started looking for baby. All of a sudden, there is was. We could see its little heartbeat flickering on the screen and then we were able to hear it. Music to my ears. Such sweet relief!
Had to wait again for the doctor. Did a check up with her and talked about the palpitations. Since I was already getting blood drawn after that she threw in a couple of extra tests to check for anemia and to check my thyroid levels. If they come back clear, and I continue to have them, I have to get checked by a cardiologist. Fun stuff.
Once we were home, we went out for lunch with Brenda and then headed home where I was finally able to post this!

Can't believe my little guy is going to be a big brother! While I don't think he totally understands what's going on, he knows where the baby is. If you ask him where it is he says, "Growing in Mommy's tummy!"
I showed him the ultrasound pictures and now he's obsessed with looking at the baby on Mommy's phone.
Then tonight with absolutely no prompting this went down:
Me: Thank you Jesus for...
D: Mommy, Daddy, Mimi, Pa, Aunt Nenny and BABY!
D: Give baby a kiss? Love him! (he calls everyone him, but tells us most of the time it's a boy).
Hopefully he enjoys his role of being a big brother once it becomes reality!
As for gender hopes? We would both like to have a girl because unless we hit some kind of jackpot this will probably make our family complete. :) That said, if it's a boy we will honestly be just as happy! (Not to mention I have an entire wardrobe to boys clothes that will totally match up!) We already have our girl name, but haven't come up with any boy names. We did come up with a whole list of names we don't like though!
I can't wait to meet this little one come November!
Oh I am so excited for all of you on this new journey ;) praying for you to be able to rest and get some of your energy back. Love you Mommaof2girl
ReplyDeleteSo so so so happy!!! I love how reading about this brings up so many memories of my own experiences! I remember reading when i was pregnant with Jilli that in those first 3 months your body is doing the same work that a mountain climber is doing by building a human being! you have every right to be tired but it is tougher with a kid already on the outside. I can also relate to the babies being due together as my oldest and youngest were both born within a week in Oct and my two middles were born within a week of march! you will have a birthday week, too! *SOOOO MUUCCCHHHH CAAKKEEE" :D I am so excited! Can't wait to get to hug you in person! Love to you all!!!!
