What to say? What to say?
It's been dreary the last few days and I don't like it! The sun did come out for awhile today, but it's gone again. Plus in another hour it'll be getting dark. Ugh. I hate when it gets dark early. Hate it. Hate it. Hate it. I always feel like it should be bedtime right after supper is over (and we eat at 5:00!).
Work was decent today. Not as crazy at Monday, but not as easy as yesterday. I had 9 today, but thankfully one left earlier and one came later so I really only had 8 at once. Now that I'm getting the lay of the land and learning the regular kids names, it makes it a bit easier. I think the girl before me just let them do whatever. I may not appear confident in many aspects of my life, but I know how to lay the smack down with kids! They probably think I'm mean. (And I don't care...they'll get used to my rules and it'll be fine).
Today I implemented a no gum chewing rule and a no going to the drinking fountain rule. The drinking fountain is literally right outside the door, but they constantly want to go in and out and when there are toddlers too it makes it hard to make sure that they aren't in the way and going to get shut in the door. Besides, they are allowed to bring a cup with them...if they don't bring one, it's not my problemo!
Plus there's a big walk in closet with toys. (Thankfully said closet has to be opened with a key). The last girl let the kids go in the closet and get whatever they wanted. I make them stand outside the closet and I get a few things. Some threw a fit, while others were fine with it. It's hard to keep them out when I'm getting stuff though. Jeez! Plus Daniel and another little girl who is 19 months followed me in and the older ones kept tattling. Ha ha. Trying to explain that they're too little to understand got me no where.
Then we came home and I vacuumed while Daniel played. We had some lunch, play some more and then he went down for nap. I've just been lazy and messing around on the computer. I did get supper prepped. It's chicken fajita night....a favorite around here!
Then I decided to bake some blueberry muffins. They may not go with fajitas, but they sure do sound tasty. I love me some baked goods.
There ya have it.
I'm glad the last 2 days have been better. And, once the kids get use to the new rules, which should always have been in place, it will go much better.
ReplyDeleteI love me baked goods a bit too, much. lol
Love you!
Glad things are smoothing out at work. You'll have the kids in a routine in no time. Sometimes you gotta be "mean."
ReplyDeleteI don't bake often because I pretty much would eat it all! (Like some bags of candy corn that have mysteriously disappeared. haha!)
