Summer Fun

So far, I am loving summer...even though it isn't officially summer.

Yesterday Jacob's parents came over in the afternoon to visit. We grilled out for supper and it was delicious! Daniel enjoyed showing off for Grandma and  Grandpa so much that he refused to even nap! You would never have known though, because he was pretty happy go lucky! Well, other than when Grandpa tried to get him to touch the grass again, anyway!

He loves his grandparent's though!

He gets to hang out with them again next week too! I couldn't believe it when I realized yesterday, that our 3rd anniversary is next Wednesday! That kind of snuck up on me. I'm pretty excited though, because Jacob and I will be heading to St. Louis for a Cardinals game! It'll probably be my only one of the season, so I'm gonna live it up! Plus, I'm not nearly as nervous about leaving Daniel this time Once I got past the first day of leaving him, I know I can do it! Besides, this time we won't be gone quite as long.

I love having things to look forward to and I realized do, even after the Cardinal game! My mom will be coming to stay for a few days at the end of June while Jacob is gone for a conference. It's funny because before Daniel I had no problem staying alone. Now, I like knowing that I have someone else with me at night. It'll be nice having her here and one day that week we're going to meet up with Jacob's mom and go shopping at the outlet mall. Woohoo!

Then in just over a month I get to see Erica, Jim and Logan! They're road trippin' across the US and are going to stop here overnight before going on to Wisconsin. Then they'll be off to Iowa for 5 days or so, which means we're road trippin' it over to Cedar Rapids again! I'm glad they're stopping here though so they can see where we live. (And maybe Erica and I can find the circus elephant that is apparently buried in Taylorville. Ha ha!) I'm excited for all of us to be together in Iowa too. Super excited for some quality sister time. I'm just thankful that I've gotten to see Erica at least once a year since she's moved, but it's not nearly enough still!

That's about it for the really fun stuff, but I'm enjoying just hanging out at home. One of my favorite times of day is when Daniel wakes up in the morning. We bring him into our bed for 15 or 20 minutes and we all just hang out. Then we just chill for the most part. It nice having Jacob home because I can run errands like grocery shopping alone. I even hit up a couple of garage sales last week and I think I'll start going to more now. Time to start looking for more clothes. My stash is dwindling as Daniel goes up in sizes!

I'm even contemplating having another garage sale myself. We'll see if I can get ambitious enough for that one. I have boxes of stuff in the basement that I have in a donate and/or sell pile. Jacob and I are going to be going through the basement this summer and cleaning. I have the urge. The urge to purge! We, as Americans have so much STUFF. Mostly things we wanted and then never use. I get sick of looking at things and want to get rid of stuff...and yet I find myself wanting more at the same time. Crazy, I tell ya.

  1. So glad youre having a great summer. I will admit I get jealous when I read how much your parents and Jacobs parents get to have with Daniel. We sure miss Zachary!
And yes Americans are obsessed with stuff. As we're unpacking I am looking forward to purging some more.
