Hope this makes up for my "cheater post" from yesterday.
This day turned out to be WAY better than I was expecting. Yesterday was just a loooong day at work. I woke up this morning with that sinking feeling because I knew I had to go face another day!
As is turned out, we were very low at the daycare today. My coworker and I were asked if either of us wanted to leave early. Well, we both said we did at the same time. We're both pretty fair people, so I suggested we flip a coin. She tossed it up and told me to call it. I called tails...but the coin never came back. We heard a "Plink!" It somehow managed to land up in the heating vent! We were cracking up so hard. She got out another quarter and I called tails again (I always call tails). She gets this weird look on her face when it landed and goes, "What the crap is that!?", which then sent us into another round of hysterics. There was black stuff on it and it wasn't a normal quarter so she was confused for a minute. Anyway, it was indeed tails, so I got to leave work a little after 9:00.
The thought of coming home and being lazy was tempting, but instead I decided I needed to be productive. Today is supposed to be one of the last nice days, so I decided to rake. Looking at the yard I figured it would take a half an hour. Instead it took 2 hours! That would be thanks to our neighbor's HUGE freakin' tree that sheds all of its leaves into our yard. Plus I filled an entire bag of leaves that were caught between our fence and driveway...and still didn't get them all!
Before picture...I should have taken these from the front, but I was lazy so you can't see all the leaves that were in the flower bed area either.
1/3 of the yard raked. I SO wanted to run and jump into this pile.
Hot diggity dog! All raked up.
The neighbor's tree. Sure is beautiful...but so annoying. Helicopters in the spring and millions of leaves in the fall. It was really annoying when the wind would blow and more would fall on the same spots I raked.
So glad I don't have to rake her yard too!
After that I sat and admired my work on the porch swing. I figured that'll probably be the last time I sit out there until spring! Then I realized how dirty I was so I came in and took a quick shower to clean off. Threw in a load of laundry and started some more cleaning. I cleaned the kitchen, took out the trash and dusted upstairs before finally allowing myself to plop down at the computer.
I knew if I let myself get on the computer first, I'd never get anything done! Ate some lunch, watched Full House (because I can't help myself) and went to Walgreens.
Now I feel exhausted and my muscles ache, but I probably burned a lot of calories and I feel accomplished. Heading back to school with Jacob when he gets home. Going to have supper with the staff and then watch his kids sing because the "Pack the House" girls basketball game.
Anyway, I think I shall go and continue to enjoy my day off!
Glad you got to leave early and that you were productive too! Good that you didn't sit down at the computer first. I find I feel lazier after computer time. I can just see your mom and I dying of hysterics with that coin toss. I too hate helicopter trees. Love you. -Auntie J
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had a productive day and got right at the yard before computer time. Sometimes I wish I didn't have a computer. I spend far too much time on here. Hope you have a good night and a great day tomorrow. love you, mom
ReplyDeleteLUCKY!!!! I am glad you got your yard raked, that's a big job and when it's done it feels so good. love you, girl!
ReplyDeleteThat did look like a lot of work - I don't enjoy raking! I did it at Jerry's folks' farm. Yes, it burned a lot of calories but like you said it takes awhile. You did good woman!!!
