10 Things About Me

I was struggling to come up with things to blog about, when I stumbled upon this. All About Me. I think some of these topics will be fun to write about, so on nights where I don't have anything exciting to share from my day, I will fall back on these.

10 Things About Me. You may already know all of these things, but I'm going to share whatever comes to mind.

1. I am an Iowa Hawkeye fan. Obviously you all know that! I really don't know how long I've actually been a fan though. As a child I couldn't have cared less. I can remember in elementary school our gym teacher would set up obstacle courses and at the end we had to swing on a rope and yell, "GO HAWKS!" Well, first of all I was quiet. I wouldn't yell it at all. Second of all, I didn't care about the Hawkeyes. (Gasp!) I think I started watching Iowa basketball with my dad 11 years ago. There was nothing on and so I caved and watched. I was hooked. I started off with an Iowa hoodie and my wardrobe has expanded from there. Watching the games with my dad made me a fan though. I didn't enjoy football though. Mostly because I didn't understand the game. I knew what a touchdown was...but it sure took forever to score points sometimes! I became obsessed with football 3 years ago. My dad got 2 free tickets to an Iowa game and the rest was history! Once I set foot in Kinnick, my life was forever changed.

2. Ice cream is my favorite sweet treat. Chocolate too. But I think ice cream wins. I love it. Chocolate, vanilla, cookies 'n cream, cookie dough, Oreo, Reese's, birthday cake, coffee, caramel. It's all good my friends.

3. I can easily become frustrated with myself and come down on myself pretty hard. I get upset when I don't understand something new right away (which happens often). I'm forgetful, and become annoyed when I can't remember something.

4. I'm addicted to Facebook. Addicted is probably an understatement. I know I spend too much time on it, and yet can't get enough sometimes. I apparently like to know what everyone is up too. At least I know I'm not the only one who lurks around on there all the time. I suppose that doesn't make it better, but whatever.

5. The way that I feel closest to God is by singing and listening to Christian music. I know there are some people who don't enjoy the music that I do, but that's usually the way that I can hear God speak to me. I do a lot of my singing in the car.

6. I like to daydream. I've daydreamed ever since I can remember. It's my escape from reality.

7. I love reality tv. People amuse me to no end on these shows. I want to go on The Amazing Race. I would probably end up getting hurt in some ridiculous way, but I think it would be so cool to get to travel to so many different countries.

8. My favorite past time was cruising around Cedar Rapids with my sister. I can't imagine the amount of gas money we wasted driving around aimlessly for hours, but I would never take it back. We laughed over things that  no one else would ever think was funny. Vented when we were mad at people. Sang at the top of our lungs to the most random music ever. Chased the ice cream man. Had fights. Scared each other by blaring the horn at the other one. "Partied with Yo-Yo" (HAHA...I totally hope she's reading this). Drove over a laundry basket. Went back to check on a "dead dog" which turned out to be a big black garbage bag. Sat in parking lots trying to decide where to eat and then ending up at Las Glorias EVERY time. Good times.

Most ghetto car picture of us ever.

9. I don't like to have things sprung on me at the last minute. I like to plan things out in advance and have a hard time going with the flow. Occasionally I'll agree to do something on a whim and I usually end up enjoying myself. I need to learn to let myself go sometimes.

10. I like themes. I have an Americana theme in the living room and sunflowers in the dining room and kitchen. I love decorating for holidays too. I have indoor decorations for almost every holiday. My favorite one to decorate for is Christmas. I also love my fall decorations...especially my Pumpkin Spice Yankee Candle.

  2. I'm a Hawkeye fan, but not a fanatic.
I love ice cream, but don't know if it's my favorite sweet; think I'd still choose chocolate!
    I can relate to #3.
I enjoy FB, but probably not addicted (yet).
I love music and especially when God speaks to me through a song.
    Daydreaming is good.
I love reality TV and think it would be fun to be on Amazing Race until I had to bungee jump (or some other height challenge, at which time I would forfeit the challenge!
Next time you think your mom and I are crazy, think about you and Erica! :)
I prefer planning ahead to flying by the seat of my pants.
I only have one room with a theme...kitchen = apples.
Guess I should have used this as my post. Maybe I will one day.

  5. Love reading about 10 things about you...Most of them sound like me.. Rachel I had to have everything planned to and unfortunately my kids are down the same path.. When I mix things up now they get all upset and they are all grown up..one time I moved the christmas tree to another spot and you thought I had broken their legs... I am learning to let go and enjoy things that aren't planned..

You started something about getting to know you...I may have to do it a few times...

    Have a great day...Lisa

  6. Fun POST indeed - I didn't know all that about you! I would loved to have a "sister" to "hang" with - I would burn up "tanks of gas" too! I like what Kathy said about "history repeating itself". ha ha. I ESPECIALLY LIKE THE PART ABOUT YOU SPENDING TIME WITH YOUR DAD AND ENJOYING THE "GAMES" - THAT TOUCHED ME. :)

  7. I hate when I put a comment in and it doesn't post it...

I basically said that this is awesome and I'll have to remember to do it. That I love ice cream but not as much as Bryan and I love random cruising! Very cool :)
